Braking System – Rear

In a previous post, I did an overhaul of my front hubs and brakes. The rears had to wait until the axle was put back into the chassis.

Now I finally managed to get the rear brakes in 🙂

Rear brake calipers rebuilt and torqued back onto the axle housing

New rotors – along with rebuilt rear calipers:

Just like the fronts, new brake pads went in with new plates to hold them.  The anti-rattle/ anti-squeal shims had to be refurbished as I couldn’t find any replacements 😦

Because the caliper pistons were wounded back flat during the overhaul (and lined up with the notch on the pad), installation of the pads became a straight-forward process:

Clamping the caliper back down and held in place with the slide pin was straight-forward with a piston already lined up.

To finish up (for now), speed bleeders were fitted in place.

Not very visible in this photo, but a speed bleeder has been installed 🙂
